Wadi Ghuweir Trail in Jordan is a stunning 17 km hike through a narrow canyon filled with palm trees, hanging gardens, and vibrant sandstone walls. Located in the Dana Biosphere Reserve, it offers a lush contrast to the surrounding desert and often involves walking through streams. Best hiked between April and October, it’s moderately challenging and ideal for nature lovers seeking a unique adventure.

Ascent: 400–496 meters
Descent: 1,420–2,060 meters
Discover Little Petra, or Siq al-Barid (the Cold Canyon), a hidden gem thought to be a “suburb” of Petra. It was likely a stop for traders along the Silk Road, offering a fascinating glimpse into the ancient trade routes.
This captivating site serves as the perfect introduction to the adventures that await you in Petra the following day.
Meet your local guide for the day and embark on a scenic back trail to Petra, avoiding the usual tourist crowds. This route follows an ancient Nabataean path that winds out of the valley, skirting around the final mountain on a natural rock terrace, which has been safely improved for walkers. As you continue, the path narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the stunning chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Beyond, carved into the cliff face, The Monastery suddenly comes into view. From there, Nabataean steps lead you down into Petra’s ancient heart, passing through the iconic Treasury and eventually exiting through the famous Petra Siq.
Hiking Distance: 14 km (3 to 4 hours)
Ascent: 496m
Descent: 519m
After your hike, enjoy a delicious lunch in Petra before heading to the stunning Wadi Rum Protected Area for a memorable 2-night stay.
Based on your selected budget and preferences, we’ll handpick the best local Bedouin camp for you, whether you prefer a luxurious experience in a bubble tent or a more traditional stay in basic Bedouin tents, offering an authentic desert experience.
Enjoy a traditional “Zarb” meal, a Bedouin specialty cooked in an underground oven, a method used by nomadic herders across the Arabian Peninsula. The process begins by digging a hole in the soft desert sand, then burning wood down to coals. The food is placed on top of the hot coals, and the hole is covered with sand, allowing the ingredients to cook slowly and absorb the earthy flavors. It’s an authentic and unforgettable taste of Bedouin culture.
Hike to the summit of Umm ad-Dami, the highest peak in Jordan’s Wadi Rum, standing at 1,840 meters (6,037 feet). This challenging trek offers an exhilarating adventure, taking you through dramatic desert landscapes and rugged terrain. As you ascend, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding red sandstone mountains, vast valleys, and the unique rock formations that define Wadi Rum. The final stretch of the hike leads you to the top, where you can take in the awe-inspiring vistas stretching all the way to the Saudi Arabian border. The hike is a rewarding experience for those looking to explore the wild beauty of the desert while pushing their limits.
Relax and rejuvenate at the Main Hot Springs, a natural thermal spring known for its soothing mineral-rich waters. The warm waters, rich in beneficial minerals, have been used for centuries for their therapeutic properties, offering a perfect opportunity to relax and relieve muscle tension.
If you have time and would like to turn this visit into an overnight stay, just mention “Main overnight” in the special requirements—we’ll be happy to customize the experience to fit your itinerary.
