This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ by the PAP for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view. (Bedouin café). Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra, through which the route goes before exiting past ‘The Treasury’ and though the famous ‘Petra Siq’ to the shops,

Introduction to Bedouin Food Heritage

Learn the “Zarb”cooking way

It is a traditional Bedouin underground oven used by nomadic herding peoples in the Arabian Peninsula. Much like a barbecue, the methods start by digging a hole in the soft sand. Then cook down wood to coals, place the food over the coal and cover the hole with sand.

The bedouin chef will be telling you about the practices and techniques used to make the best Zarb.

Day 4

9:00 am

Hike Umm-Ad-Dami Mountain

Get ready to summit Jordan’s highest peak – Jabal Umm ad-Dami. After breakfast and a long jeep ride through the stunning desert landscape (approx. 1hr), we’ll reach the foot of the mountain. The hiking path is very steep and a little strenuous, but overall it’s a moderate hike: it will only take you about 2-3 hours to get to the top and back down again (depending on your level of fitness of course).
Once you reach the peak you will see – the stunning desert views were absolutely worth every effort! Standing at an altitude of 1854m above sea level, you gain a whole new perspective of the breathtaking landscape surrounding you. To the South, you can see across a wide mountain panorama far into Saudi Arabia, to the North you can spot Rum Village and the famous Seven Pillars of Wisdom at the horizon.

After the hike, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch cooked in the middle of the desert wilderness on fire, and then return to the camp to relax and recover, and spend another night in Wadi Rum, enjoying the traditional Bedouin hospitality and a breathtaking night sky.

Day 5

8:00 am

Head To Dead Sea

After an early breakfast in your camp in Wadi Rum. We will take you to the lowest point on earth now to enjoy floating in the salty waters, try out the ‘magical’ Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or pamper yourselves to some spa treatments – the perfect way to end the trip.
