Day 1

Arrive to Amman

We will pick you up at the airport. Depending on your flight arrival, you will have some time to explore Amman at your own pace or we can organize a day tour if time allows.

Overnight at one of our selected hotels.

Day 2

8:00 am

Hike Wadi Mujib Canyon

Enjoy the beautiful views of the Dead Sea on your way to Wadi Mujib Adventure Center where you will go on a self-guided 3-hour hike through the Siq Trail. The hike includes climbing, splashing, sliding, and jumping through a stunning gorge! Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, there might even be pools deep enough to swim.

Open from May until October – will be exchanged with a different hike on other dates.

4:00 pm

Explore Little Petra

Explore Little Petra known as Siq al-Barid (the Cold Canyon). It is believed to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra, that was probably meant to house traders traveling along the Silk Road.

A great sneak peek of the next day.

7:00 pm

Stay at a Local Camp

The “Al Bayda” where Little Petra is located is surrounded by magical mountains that spread to Petra. A great way to end your day under the stars.

Based on your selected budget & preference, we will select the best local Bedouin camp for this stay as there are luxury camps with bubble tents and traditional Bedouin camps with basic tents.

Day 3

8:00 am

Hike from Little Petra to Petra

Meet your local guide for the day where he will walk you through the back trail to Petra; avoiding the tourist jam.

This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ by the PAP for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view. Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra, through which the route goes before exiting past ‘The Treasury’ and through the famous ‘Petra Siq’.

Hiking Distance: 14Km (3 to 4 Hours)
Ascent: 496m
Descent: 519m

5:00 pm

Head to Wadi Rum

After the hike, you will have lunch in Petra then head to Wadi Rum Protected Area for a 2-night stay.

Based on your selected budget & preference, we will select the best local Bedouin camp for this stay as there are luxury camps with bubble tents and traditional Bedouin camps with basic tents.

5:00 pm

Local Traditional Dinner

Enjoy a “Zarb” meal.

It is a traditional Bedouin underground oven used by nomadic herding peoples in the Arabian Peninsula. Much like a barbecue, the method starts by digging a hole in the soft sand. Then cook down wood to coals, place the food over the coal, and cover the hole with sand.

Day 4

9:00 am

Hike Umm-Ad-Dami Mountain

Get ready to summit Jordan’s highest peak – Jabal Umm ad-Dami.

After breakfast and a long jeep ride through the stunning desert landscape (approx. 1hr), we’ll reach the foot of the mountain. The hiking path is very steep and a little strenuous, but overall it’s a moderate hike: it will only take you about 2-3 hours to get to the top and back down again.

Once you reach the peak you will see – the stunning desert views which are worth every effort! Standing at an altitude of 1854m above sea level, you gain a whole new perspective of the breathtaking landscape surrounding you. To the South, you can see across a wide mountain panorama far into Saudi Arabia, to the North you can spot Rum Village and the famous Seven Pillars of Wisdom at the horizon.

After the hike, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch cooked in the middle of the desert wilderness on fire, and then return to the camp to relax and recover, and spend another night in Wadi Rum, enjoying the traditional Bedouin hospitality and a breathtaking night sky.

Dinner and overnight in your camp.

Day 5

8:00 am

Visit the Dead Sea

After an early breakfast in your camp in Wadi Rum. We will take you to the lowest point on earth now to enjoy floating in the salty waters, try out the ‘magical’ Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or pamper yourselves with some spa treatments – the perfect way to end the trip.

If you have time to make this visit an overnight stay, inform your local advisor to customize it.
